10 Questions of Reflexion on End of The Year Thought

In order to embrace the new, we must release the old. A trapeze artist cannot swing from one bar to another without letting go. An important part of preparing for the New Year is to review the past year—to release it—and to learn from it.… The following questions should stimulate your thinking for this process. I hope that you take time out of your busy schedule this holiday season to ponder where you are and where you've been. Talk with people you care about. Write out your thoughts and feelings. Do some journaling. Consider writing a letter—an end-of the-year-epistle to yourself. It could be profound to write it and valuable to read it in the years ahead. Reflect upon what you did, how you felt, what you liked, what you didn’t and what you learned. Try to look at yourself and your experience with as much objectivity as you can—much like a biographer would. Here are some suggestions to get you started in mulling over the past year—perhaps the last decade. Feel free to add yo

"One day you will kiss a man you can't breathe without and find that breath is of little consequence." ― Karen Marie Moning "You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." ― Dr. Seuss "There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment." ― Sarah Dessen "I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close." ― Pablo Neruda "Promise me you'll never forget me because if I thought you would, I'd never leave." ― A.A. What it Really Means When 'Two Become One'

In early engagement, when I first began thinking about the idea of “two becoming one,” I pictured it like the process of combining chocolate chips with cookie dough. In other words, the following equation: Something Incredible + Something Incredible = Something Super-Duper Incredible. Yeah Right. Now when I think of the idea of “two becoming one,” I picture it a bit more realistically – like welding two metals together. Here’s the accurate equation: Something Hard and Stubborn + Something Hard and Stubborn = Ouch, That Hurts By “ouch, that hurts” I mean whatever metal being welded would feel like if it had feelings. Like “Oh, dang. This burns. I’m melting. I’m dying.” But really, that is basically what both Brandon and I secretly screamed in the beginning months of marriage. And honestly… sometimes we still do. I think most married people probably started out like me in the beginning – we picture something amazing and then the pain catches us by surprise. Before I go any furt

TruthOrator's Daily Mind Refreshment Quotes on Life Choices

“No one else can ever make your choices for you. Your choices are yours alone. They are as much a part of you as every breath you will take, every moment of your life.”  “You may think that in life, a lot of things happen to you along the way. The truth is, in life, you happen to a lot of things along the way.” “Choosing to live your life by your own choice is the greatest freedom you will ever have.” “It is only when you exercise your right to choose that you can also exercise your right to change.” “It is your programming that has created your choices in the past. It is the choices you make today that are creating the programs of your future.” “If you were given only one choice: To choose or not to choose, which would you choose?” “The choices we make by accident are just as important as the choices we make by design.” “Another person’s choice is nothing more than another alternative for you to consider.” “There is no life as complete as the life that is lived by choi

TruthOrator's Quotes on Self and Personal Reflexion

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. --Melody Beattie Reputation is what others think of us; character is what God knows of us. When you have spent what feels like eternity trying to repair a few moments of time that destroyed the view others once had of you then you must ask yourself if you have the problem or is it really them? God doesn’t make us try so hard, only enemies do. --Shannon L. Alder The battle you are going through is not fueled by the words or actions of others; it is fueled by the mind that gives it importance. --Shannon L. Alder It is necessary ... for a man to go away by himself ... to sit on a rock ... and ask, 'Who am I, where have I been, and where am I going? --Carl

When we hold on to unforgiveness and we live with grudges in our hearts, all we're doing is building walls of separation. ~Joel Osteen You must forgive the people who hurt you so you can get out of prison. You'll never be free until you do. Let go of hose wrongs they've done to you. Get that bitterness out of your life. That's the only way you're going to truly be free. You will be amazed at what can happen in your life when you release all that poison. ~Joel Osteen If we don't forgive ourselves for mistakes we've made--and everybody's made their choices, some worse than others--we'll never experience the good life God has in store. ~Joel Osteen “Keep in mind, hurting people often hurt other people as a result of their own pain. Wise Sayings and Quotes on Contentment

Man falls from the pursuit of the ideal of plan living and high thinking the moment he wants to multiply his daily wants. Man’s happiness really lies in contentment. --Gandhi I always get what I want because I always want what I get. --Tim Bischoff Do not tell me that you have got to be rich! We have a false standard of greatness in the United States. We think here that a man must be great, that he must be notorious; that he must be extremely wealthy, or that his name must be upon the putrid lips of rumor. It is all a mistake. It is not necessary to be rich or to be great, or to be powerful, to be happy. The happy man is the successful man. Happiness is the legal tender of the soul.Joy is wealth. --Robert Ingersoll A wise man is he who does not grieve for the thing which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has. --Epictetus Seek not that the things which happen should happen as you wish; but wish the things which happen to be as they are, and you will have a tranquil flo

Quotes From Gray Thomas's Sacred Search Book

Lying about what you want out of marriage going in because you’re afraid you’ll lose the relationship if you are honest is one of the worst kinds of fraud you could ever commit. --Gary L. Thomas The truth is, we want to be known; we truly do. But we’re afraid. If you see the real me, will you run away? Am I even worth being known? Will the real me bore you? Scare you? Repulse you? And so we hide. --Gary L. Thomas Here’s what I want you to ask yourself as you embark on your search for a vibrant sole mate: what will your ideal marriage look like? Will the two of you spend your lives “sucking the marrow out of life,” or working hard to establish a business and/or ministry (and often spending evenings and weekends recovering)? Will you seek to build a child-centered family, focusing on the kids, or have you always thought you’d like to do a lot of foreign travel or maybe just adopt one or two children? Will you have separate hobbies, or would you prefer to do everything together? --Gar
