Hawk Your Bread with Passion and Pride

I came across this write up on WhatsApp yesterday and it really swept me off my feet. A lovely piece by Ebenezer Diyaolu On my way to a ministration yesterday, I drove through a route and I saw OLAJUMOKE. You remember that Olajumoke? I mean that Olajumoke, the bread seller turned model. I saw her yesterday. If you are in Lagos ,you must have noticed some bill boards erected here and there with the pictures of some people ,mostly celebraties in the music and film industry, and other great personality in celebrating Lagos at 50. I have been seeing this boards here and there with those faces we know. But one caught my attention yestarday. I saw Olajumoke Orisaguna, that bread seller turned model on a bill board and this inscription "Lagos, my success story" was written on it. As I drove pass that bill board, many thoughts ran through my head. Many of those faces on other bill boards are people who have been in their various field for years and they worked tired...

Image
Life can be a hard pill to swallow. On a daily basis, we are consumed with regrets, failures and insecurities that plague our minds and control our actions. We are overwhelmed by situations we cannot change and things we wish we could take back. We experience heartbreak, loss and fear, along with betrayal, jealousy and bad memories. However, life doesn't have to be so hard. There's an art to learning to let things go and leaving the worries of the past to yesterday. Because in life, we're all carrying the same load, yet what differentiates us is how we choose to carry it. Those who go through life with a seemingly unaffected attitude are the people who understand the angles of life and the differences between what can be changed and what cannot. In understanding those differences, they are able to move on and enjoy life as it's presented. It's the people who don't get worked up when their plane is delayed or when they didn't get the promotion they wanted...

Why We Have A Problem With Hearing The Truth

Image
Over winter break I forced – practically dragged – my mom into the car and drove to the nearest movie theater to see a movie. It’s possible that she hadn’t seen one in theaters since "Legally Blonde" came out, which was 15 years ago and will probably make you feel super old. The movie I made her see was "The Big Short." The gist of it is that these guys predict the 2007 financial crisis and save themselves from financial damnation. I didn’t just want to see it because it starred Christian Bale, who I have a huge crush on, but because I’m genuinely into boring things like hedge funds and swindling people out of their money. The biographical comedy met my high expectations and there were only a few scenes that were uncomfortable to watch with my mom sitting next to me. She only cringed a couple times, probably wondering when I became so comfortable with “immorality.” In between scenes, there were quotes across the screen that introduced t...

If you honestly want to develop a fulfilling relationship, then marriage needs to be more than something you do for fun. Marriage is giving yourself completely to your spouse. It is making the commitment to dedicate your life to him or her. So if that's what you're looking for, and you want a man who won't flake when life gets tough, here are just a few traits that you should look for in a spouse: 1. The 3 Most Important Truths To Finding A Partner For Life

Image
We’ve all heard it before: “You'll find someone to love when you're not looking.” Some of us believe it, and the rest of us realize how ridiculous and illogical that statement is. How likely are you to find your car keys if you don't bother looking for them? How about that matching sock? How likely are you to receive that promotion if you don’t put in the conscious effort to be noticed? Just because a person is a living being doesn't mean that he or she will simply walk into your life. On top of that, if you're not looking, who's to say that you'll notice this person when he or she does happen to walk into your life? There is, of course, a difference between actively and passively looking for a life partner. Looking for someone actively via dating sites or going out to bars does — I promise you — have a much higher success rate than not looking at all does. Yet, actively looking gets tiring, and whether we like to admit it or not, much of who we mee...

10 Reasons Why a Guy Will Reject You

Image
Unfortunately, things do not always turn out the way we want. You may like a man and for some reason he may not like you. First you give some hints on how you feel (not directly) and wait for him to do the same to you, but apparently the man did not catch the signals or simply does not correspond to your feelings. Normally, the best option would be to forget him and continue your life, since he obviously did not see what is before his eyes, so why should you care about a man who does not realize how wonderful you are? Unfortunately, sometimes things are not so easy and you feel the need to know exactly what happens. It is true that all men are different, but most of the time the problem can be in any of these 12 reasons why a guy will reject you. 1. You are striving much to get him: In your attempts to seduce this man is not subtle you can look like a woman in need. This is a disincentive for men if they realize they can have you when...
